The Masked Singer Season 14: First Celebrity Revealed! Double Elimination Shocks Fans (2026)

The Masked Singer Kicks Off Season 14 with a Dramatic Double Elimination

This season of The Masked Singer is already making waves, as it bids farewell to one of baseball's most celebrated figures in a dramatic twist.

As the curtain rises on the season 14 premiere, the character known as Googly Eyes, clad in the show's tallest costume, captured the attention of both the audience and judges right away. Jenny McCarthy quickly deduced that this towering figure must be an athlete due to his impressive height.

In his pre-recorded introduction on the January 7 episode, Googly Eyes boasted, "Qualifications? I have plenty!" He described himself as a prominent star and a natural leader recognized for transforming struggling businesses into successful ventures.

As part of his performance, he humorously mentioned some notable "references," including famous names like Kevin Bacon, John Krasinski, and Chris Tucker, while appearing to make copies of a poppyseed bagel on a copier. "So I’m perfectly suited for this role," he concluded, standing next to a bowl of cake batter, and confidently stated he would be instrumental in making this season a hit.

His performance of DJ Snake and Lil Jon's 2013 anthem "Turn Down for What" was a crowd-pleaser, prompting laughter from the judges. Rita Ora exclaimed, "How on earth are we supposed to figure out who that is? I’m still trying to wrap my head around what just happened!"

Googly Eyes faced off against Cat Witch, who impressed everyone with a rendition of "Abracadabra" by Lady Gaga, ultimately leading to her victory over Googly Eyes. The judges were taken aback when Googly Eyes found himself among the bottom five contestants, shocking everyone present.

In the end, Googly Eyes was eliminated, prompting the judges to put their sleuthing skills to the test to uncover the identity hidden beneath the oversized costume. All of them correctly guessed that he was indeed a baseball player, many citing Googly Eyes’ unique accent as a key clue. Jenny speculated it might be Derek Jeter from the Yankees, while Robin Thicke initially guessed Manny Ramirez from the Boston Red Sox but later switched to Pedro Martinez. Rita also picked Manny. However, Ken Jeong correctly identified Googly Eyes as none other than David Ortiz, affectionately known as Big Papi, who played a vital role in leading the Red Sox to their first World Series title in 86 years back in 2004.

Upon being unmasked, David shared with the audience, "I gotta say, this costume is quite the workout! I won’t need to hit the gym for at least a month. But it was an absolute blast!" He jokingly added that he could perform "Turn Down for What" all day long.

Before leaving the stage, the World Series champion couldn’t resist delivering one of his iconic lines: "I’ve got something for them — daaaaaaaaaaa Yankees lose!"

However, David wasn't the only celebrity to exit during the premiere episode. As the show wrapped up, it hinted that the duo known as The Croissants would also be heading home in what turned out to be a triple elimination, with their identities set to be revealed in the upcoming second episode. The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on Fox.

Stay tuned as we introduce more mystery celebrities competing next week.
