Weiyi Tan Elected to ACFE Board of Regents: Advancing Global Fraud Prevention (2026)

Bold statement: Weiyi Tan’s election signals a pivotal moment for global anti-fraud leadership, reinforcing the ACFE’s mission to elevate standards, accountability, and proactive integrity worldwide. But here’s where it gets interesting: the board selection process highlighted a diverse and high-caliber slate, underscoring that rigorous expertise and international perspectives drive effective fraud prevention.

Weiyi Tan, CFE, FSIArb, LLM, has been newly elected to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) Board of Regents for 2026–2027. The Board of Regents stands as the ACFE’s pinnacle elected body, with members chosen directly by CFEs across the globe. Following a competitive ballot featuring nine candidates, Weiyi was one of three individuals selected to fill vacant board seats.

In her professional role, Weiyi co-leads the Asia-Pacific Regulatory and Investigations Group at her firm. She brings more than two decades of legal practice to the table and holds qualifications in Singapore, the United Kingdom (England and Wales), and the United States (New York). Her advisory work centers on investigations into corruption, fraud, and other white-collar offenses, guiding clients through enforcement and regulatory interactions. She also assists organizations in designing and implementing robust anti-bribery and anti-fraud compliance programs.

Weiyi has been a Certified Fraud Examiner since 2015 and previously served as president of the ACFE Singapore Chapter from 2019 to 2023. She is a frequent speaker on fraud topics and has trained audiences at the ACFE Global Fraud Conference and the ACFE Fraud Conference Asia-Pacific. Her professional contributions extend beyond the board: she was appointed to the Goods and Services Tax Board of Review by Singapore’s Ministry of Finance and serves as Vice President of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators. Her recognitions include being named a “Next Generation Partner” for White Collar Crime by The Legal 500 Asia-Pacific and earning the title “Litigation Star” from Benchmark Litigation Asia-Pacific.

The Regents will begin their two-year terms in February 2026, supporting the ACFE’s global initiative to prevent, detect, and investigate fraud.

ACFE President John Gill, J.D., CFE, commented: “The ACFE Board of Regents reflects the best of our global membership and embodies leadership, trust, innovation, and hard work that define the anti-fraud profession. We’re honored to welcome Weiyi and the other Regents-elect as new appointees to the Board.”

In addition to Weiyi, the 2026–2027 ACFE Board of Regents includes David Nkang Odu, CFE, MBA, Senior Manager and Head, Currency Management Centre at the Central Bank of Nigeria, Makurdi Branch, Nigeria; and Kimberly Figel Benoit, CFE, Inspector General at the U.S. Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.

We are proud that Weiyi has been selected to hold office in one of the world’s most recognized anti-fraud organizations.”

Weiyi Tan stated: “The Board sets and sustains the ACFE’s high standards, and it is an honor to be chosen by my peers to serve. I look forward to advancing the ACFE’s mission of promoting fraud prevention, detection, and global investigation capabilities.”
